Kremlin Clarifies Melania Trump’s Involvement in Alyoshki Aid Mission
US First Lady Melania Trump has experience in humanitarian work, particularly, she helped reunite Russian and Ukrainian children with their families, which enabled her to contribute to the humanitarian operation in Alyoshki (Oleshky), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"It was simply a practical initiative, a practical one, and, furthermore, she has experience. She made considerable efforts to facilitate the exchange of children. She helped reunite children with their families, children in Ukraine and children in Russia. So she already has substantial experience in this field. She made an effort, and it worked out in the case of Alyoshki," Peskov told the Vesti news agency when asked about the US first lady's coordinating role in the humanitarian operation there.
He added that US representatives were also working toward
a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.
"So there was a kind of synergy," Peskov concluded.
