India, which took over the G20 Presidency in December 2022, intends to hold more than 200 meetings in 55 different locations, including Jammu and Kashmir, as part of the activities of this group, to showcase the country's cultural heritage.
Kashmir has been a point of contention between India and Pakistan since 1947, when India was divided into two states along religious lines. Today, India and Pakistan are divided by the Line of Control (LoC).
India considers Kashmir an integral part of its territory, and has repeatedly blamed Pakistan for allegedly supporting cross-border terrorism in the region. This year alone, 17 people, including 10 military personnel, became victims of attacks by militants in Jammu and Kashmir.
