China has proposed to launch a joint campaign with Pakistan to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the territory of Pakistan after Chinese citizens coming under attack from radical elements.
"China will continue to work with Pakistan to jointly guard against and counter the threats of terrorism and effectively protect the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in Pakistan," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin in a press conference in Beijing.
His remarks came just hours after militants opened fire at a security convoy safeguarding Chinese workers who were traveling to Gwadar, where the neighboring nation's professionals are assisting Pakistan in building a deep sea port.
While Wenbin noted that the attack was repelled, confirming that all the Chinese nationals traveling in the convoy were safe. He condemned the terrorist attack in strong words.
Also, the spokesman urged the Pakistan law-enforcement agencies to arrest the culprits as soon as possible before asking them to enhance the security of the Chinese citizens working in the Islamic nation.
Wenbin alleged that escalating attacks on Chinese persons in Pakistan were planned to create a rift between Islamabad and Beijing, considering the "friendship between the two countries is rock-solid".
However, all these attempts, targeted to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will not fructify as the governments of the two neighboring sovereign states were firm in their resolve to root out terrorism.
