Pakistan and Russia have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in the fight against terrorism, the foreign ministry of the South Asian Islamic country stated.
"The two sides resolved to work together in combating financing of terrorism and in other key areas of counter-terrorism," the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, the Russian delegation and Pakistani government officials discussed the growing threat of radicalisation, how to curb the spread of hate ideology, and the use of misinformation campaigns by terrorists to their advantage on social media.
"The two sides outlined their respective national strategies and measures in combating terrorism. They shared their experiences and best practices, highlighting the importance of national efforts in the broader fight against terrorism," it added.
The development came following discussions of the Pakistan-Russia Joint Working Group on Combating International Terrorism and Other Challenges to Security in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Friday.
The counter-terrorism talks between the two countries were led by Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Haider Shah from the Pakistani side and Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.
