Security forces in Pakistan's major cities were put on high alert following intelligence reports of potential terror activities led by militant groups, including the Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan* (affiliated with al-Qaeda* terror group), The Express Tribune, a local newspaper reported.
The terror alert was issued after 17 suicide bombers from various groups infiltrated the country, tasked with carrying out terror attacks in the largest cities, according to the report.
Security has been beefed up in the cities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan, as well as the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the report said.
