Pakistan Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar emphasized that Islamabad has no border conflict with Iran.
His statement came only days after tensions between the two countries escalated after the Asian neighbors carried out tit-for-tat strikes inside each other's territories.
However, the Pakistani premier underlined that Iran took a wrong step by violating the country's airspace and launching missiles in its Balochistan province.
"Iran took a wrong step, so we responded, otherwise, we would have been chosen to stay silent. I still couldn't find a logical reason behind Tehran's move in the presence of active communication channels," Kakar told journalists in Islamabad on Thursday. "In this case, Pakistan has no border conflict with Iran. The whole world was looking towards Pakistan to see how we react to such violations."
Moreover, Kakar called on Iran to stabilize ties with Pakistan, asking Tehran to open intelligence and military channels to avoid similar incidents in the future.
"There is desire on both sides for de-escalation but before that desire, what Pakistan demonstrated, the way we responded, that was a message to the whole of the region, it's not just focused on Iran," Kakar concluded.
