Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has made various strange remarks and gaffes during his ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra (Unite India March), inviting mockery by both netizens and political parties.
Netizens on Friday joined prominent Muslim lawmaker Asaduddin Owaisi in mocking Congress parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks, in which he metaphorically claimed to be "killing" himself.
Taking a swipe at the Wayanad MP, the leader of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (All India Council for the Unity of Muslims) labeled him a "genie", wondering why Gandhi had killed himself but could still be seen "roaming the roads during his Unity March."

"This is the condition of the Congress: a 50-year-old says he has killed cold, he has killed himself. Tu kya hai phir? (What are you then?) Jinn hai? (A genie?) If you have killed yourself then who is this person? Had I said something like that, people would have thought I was having a fit," Owaisi said at a public event in Hyderabad city.

As Owaisi's statement began doing the rounds on the internet, many social media users also had fun at Gandhi's expense.
"But when was he alive? How can you kill a dead soul," a Twitter user joked about the former Congress president.
"Next level of roasting by Owaisi," a second added.
"Now even Owaisi is making fun of Rahul Gandhi, " a third wrote.

BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi as He Meets Bereaved Socialist Leader's Kin
Owaisi's statement regarding Gandhi came after the 52-year-old politician made curious comments about himself last weekend.
At a press conference in Haryana state, when Gandhi was asked about his self-image, he replied saying: "Rahul Gandhi exists in your mind, I have killed him. He's not in my mind. He's gone. The person you're seeing is not Rahul Gandhi."

"I have nothing to do with image. You create the image you want. Good or bad, that's yours, not mine. I have to do my work," Gandhi added.
