Over 100 cases have been filed against former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan across the country, including charges of terrorism after his ouster from power last year.
An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday granted bail to former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in eight cases related to the violence that took place at Islamabad's judicial complex in April 2023.
The violence occurred days after a local court ordered Khan to appear before it or face arrest. However, his supporters fought pitched battles with security forces as he made his way to the court, leading to the ransacking of public property and damage to police vehicles.
This incident took place within days of police's futile effort to arrest the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore.

Crackdown on PTI

Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, Khan, the 70-year-old cricketer-turned-politician, criticized the Shehbaz Sharif government after law enforcement agencies rearrested senior party politician Shireen Mazari on Monday.
Describing the ruling coalition's actions as "sinking to new lows", opposition leader khan said that the main motive behind putting Mazari back in jail was to shake her resolve and spirit.

Imran Khan Predicts His Arrest as Over 10,000 PTI Members Already in Jail
"Strongly condemn Shireen Mazari's arrest from outside Adiala after her release orders were issued by the court. This regime is sinking to new lows. Her health is fragile and subjecting her to this ordeal by rearresting her despite courts giving her bail is simply trying to break her spirit," the cricketer-turned-politician posted on Twitter.
"Shireen won't break as she has more courage than most people I have come across in my life. However, the country is rapidly descending towards becoming a Banana republic where might is right," Khan added.
Mazari serves as the Senior Vice President of the PTI.
In another moral victory for Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi secured bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case in which, she, her husband, and their close aides have been accused of embezzling PKR 69 billion ($240/£190 million) worth of state funds.
Bibi was granted pre-arrest bail until May 31 by the Lahore High Court.
