Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has urged the UN Sanctions Committee, which lists global terrorists, to follow a process free of any kind of politicization and double standards.The Indian NSA added that the BRICS grouping comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa could together voice their support for the inclusion of terrorists and their associates under the UN's counter-terrorism framework.Doval's remarks have come at a time when New Delhi has raised the issue of terrorism in multiple forums including this month's summit of the heads of states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).During the virtual SCO summit held under India's presidency, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked member nations to condemn terrorism in the strongest possible words.The Indian leader underlined that terrorism was a threat to global peace and that countries must take decisive action against the menace.

For years, India's resolutions to list Pakistan-based militants as global terrorists under the provisions of the UN have met with opposition from a few countries.
Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has urged the UN Sanctions Committee, which lists global terrorists, to follow a process free of any kind of politicization and double standards.
Participating in a
meeting of BRICS NSAs in
Johannesburg, Doval stated: "It is important that the decision-making of the UNSC sanctions committee is free from politicization and double standards."
The Indian NSA added that the BRICS grouping comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa could together voice their support for the inclusion of terrorists and their associates under the UN's counter-terrorism framework.
Doval's remarks have come at a time when
New Delhi has raised the issue of terrorism in multiple forums including this month's summit of the heads of states of the
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
During the virtual SCO summit held under India's presidency, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked member nations to condemn terrorism in the strongest possible words.
"Some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument in sync with their policy. SCO must not hesitate to criticize such countries," PM Modi said.
The Indian leader underlined that terrorism was a threat to global peace and that countries must take decisive action against the menace.
"It has become a threat to regional as well as global peace. There is a need for decisive action to
deal with terrorism. We have to fight together against terrorism that may be in any form and any manifestation," the Indian Prime Minister stressed during the summit.
