Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, otherwise known as Mahatma Gandhi, earned fame not only as India’s freedom fighter, but for also spawning the idea of “non-violent resistance,” which has influenced modern civil disobedience movements throughout the world.
As the second day of the G-20 summit gets rolling, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received G-20 leaders at Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Sunday morning.
Leaders including US President Joe Biden, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong were among the attendees.
All leaders paid homage by laying wreaths and observing a minute of silence for the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi while being accompanied by a live performance of Gandhi's cherished devotional songs.
Modi gifted all the leaders Khadi shawls, seen as a symbol of India's struggle for freedom and of Gandhi's legacy. The famed leader of India's anti-colonial resistance promoted the spinning of khadi (a coarse fabric often made of cotton, silk, and wool) as a means of self-reliance.
After paying tribute to Gandhi, the leaders will sign the 'Peace Wall' at the Leaders' Lounge.
Russia and India are working out ways to create additional payment platforms and boost trade in national currencies, FM Lavrov said, responding to the question from a Sputnik India correspondent

🟧 The G-20 summit is successful, the group now is undergoing internal reform;
🟧 Russia acknowledges and appreciates Guterres' efforts regarding the grain issue, but they remain uncertain of the outcome if the West merely makes promises without taking concrete steps towards Moscow;
🟧 Western countries tried to derail agenda towards Ukraine despite other important issues;
🟧 The G-20 summit's results will give a positive impetus to the IMF and the WTO reform, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said during a press conference on the sidelines of the summit.
