Earlier this month, the Indian government called for a five-day special session of Parliament from 18 to 22 of September.
On the first day of its special session, the Indian Parliament will hold a joint session of the two houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, to discuss the 75-year journey of the Parliament and take up four Bills.
A government bulletin on Wednesday late evening revealed the agenda of the Special Session of Parliament to be held from 18 to 22 of September.
“Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha — Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings,” according to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha bulletin.
During the Monsoon Session, several significant bills were presented and approved. The Lok Sabha has introduced the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, among other important bills. Additionally, the Rajya Sabha passed the Advocates (Amendment) Bill and the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill. Another noteworthy bill, the Post Office Bill, was introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
The announcement comes amid an attack by opposition members for not disclosing the session's agenda.
On Wednesday, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) chairperson Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the agenda of the Special Session of the Parliament called by the government.
