Iran on Thursday dismissed reports of issuing citizenship IDs to Afghan citizens living in the Shia-majority sovereign state.Iranian interior minister, Ahmad Vahidi termed the reports as "highly inaccurate".Vahidi's comments come amid rising concerns over the issue in Iran, with the country's citizens seemingly unhappy with the news that Tehran was thinking about giving permanent shelter to Afghans there.Iran houses the largest contingent of Afghan refugees in the world, with over 8 million residing in the Middle East nation.Iran's denial regarding handing citizenship rights to Afghan citizens comes at a time when Pakistan has set a November 1 deadline to deport all nationals from the neighboring country.At 4.4 million, Pakistan has the second largest group of Afghan nationals.

Afghan refugees in Iran and Pakistan have been in the spotlight in recent weeks, with Islamabad setting a November 1 deadline to deport its neighbours' nationals.
Iran on Thursday dismissed reports of issuing citizenship IDs to Afghan citizens living in the Shia-majority sovereign state.
Iranian interior minister,
Ahmad Vahidi termed the reports as "highly inaccurate".
"Some individuals are unable to differentiate between an ID card and a birth certificate," he added.
