A top UN official has resigned and claimed that the United States, the United Kingdom, and most of Europe were "wholly complicit in the horrific assault" on Palestinian citizens while Israel continues to attack Gaza.
Director of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in the New York office, Craig Mokhiber, resigned as he demanded to end the "deeply racist, settler-colonial project" and referenced the "genocide" of Palestinian civilians as Israel persisted in its attacks on Gaza.
In his "last official communication," Craig Mokhiber, the director of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in New York, explained to Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, how the UN "failed" in its obligation.

In addition, Craig claimed that the United States, United Kingdom, and most of Europe were "wholly complicit in the horrific assault" and that the UN was "failing" in its duty to stop what he described as the genocide of Palestinian civilians in Gaza under Israeli bombardment.

Craig Mokhiber stated in his resignation letter that the current wholesale slaughter of the Palestinian people, rooted in an ethno-nationalist colonial-settler ideology, in continuation of decades of their systematic persecution and purging, based entirely upon their status as Arabs leaves no room for doubt.

“Once again we are seeing a genocide unfolding before our eyes and the organisation we serve appears powerless to stop it," said, Craig Mokhiber. The former UN representative advocated for a "one-state solution," which would imply the end of the Jewish state and the restoration of historic Palestine.

Amid the Israel- Hamas Conflict, the UN Humanitarian Office (OCHA) said, "Since October 7th, 8,309 Palestinians have been killed, including at least 3,747 children and at least 2,062 women” on Wednesday. In retaliation for the October 7 attacks, Israeli ground forces have been engaged in combat inside the Gaza Strip and have launched airstrikes against Palestinian territory.
