India has been ramping up its missile arsenal with several launches carried out in recent months, with the latest one coming this week.
India on Tuesday successfully conducted the test firing of its maiden domestically developed anti-ship missile. The trial was jointly performed by the Indian Navy and the South Asian country's premier defense research body, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

"Indian Navy in association with DRDO successfully undertook Guided Flight Trials of 1st indigenously developed Naval Anti-Ship Missile from Sea King 42B Helo on 21 Nov," the country's blue water force wrote on Twitter, now rebranded as X.

The Indian Navy added that the test was an important step in the country's mission to accomplish "self-reliance in niche missile tech."
The Indian Navy's video shared on the microblogging platform showed the missile being fired from a Sea King 42B chopper.
In a major step toward indigenization, the missile is equipped with a locally manufactured launcher, an advanced navigation system, and state-of-the-art avionics.
