Chahbahar is located in the Gulf of Oman, near the Pakistani border, and has direct access to the Indian Ocean. The city also houses Iran's only, eponymous, oceanic port. The move comes amid a diplomatic rift in bilateral relations following a missile strike by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps against Pakistani territory. It said the strike was in retaliation for the deadly bombing attack in Iran carried out by a terrorist group based in Pakistan's Balochistan. Islamabad slammed Tehran's strike, which it said had killed two children and injured another three, describing it as a violation of its sovereignty. In December 2023, a bombing attack on a police headquarters in Iran's city of Rask left 12 officers dead and seven other injured. Sunni terrorist group Jaish al-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack.

Iran & Pakistan Will Build Science-Tech Park in Chahbahar
TEHRAN (Sputnik) - Iran and Pakistan welcome the development of bilateral ties in research and technology and will build a designated science center in the southeastern Iranian coastal city of Chah Bahar, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Ali Zolfigol said on Wednesday.
Chahbahar is located in the Gulf of Oman, near the Pakistani border, and has direct access to the Indian Ocean. The city also houses Iran's only, eponymous, oceanic port.
"There are no constraints for the development of relations between the two friendly and fraternal nations, Iran and Pakistan, in various fields of science, technology and innovation, and both countries welcome such development of relations ... In this regard, it was decided to build a science and technology park in Chahbahar through the cooperation between the two countries," Zolfigol said at a meeting with the chairman of the Pakistani Higher Education Commission, Mukhtar Ahmad, as quoted in a statement by the Iranian government.
