Russia's foreign policy chief will share his views on the current international agenda and the most pressing global issues.
Sputnik comes to you live from Moscow, where Russia's top diplomat Sergey Lavrov is being interviewed Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of Rossiya Segodnya, Sputnik's parent media group, as well as the editors-in-chief of the radio stations Govorit Moskva and Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to the official statement by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the interview “will be devoted to foreign policy issues and the current international agenda”.
Escalation of the topic of Russia's defeat reflects the agony and hysteria of the West
The West's instigation of the topic of defeating Russia reflects agony and hysteria, where they see the formation of a new equal world order, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"Escalating this topic of defeating Russia, emphasizing the existential significance of this defeat for the future of the West, this reflects not so much belligerence as agony and hysteria," Lavrov said in an interview with Sputnik.
The Minister added that the statements of the West about the impending loss of its influence, the reconstruction of the world by Russia and its partners reflect an understanding of the ongoing formation of a new and just world order.
The West has made it clear that all its countries "lie down" under the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"In addition to this fear of losing hegemony, they also very openly, perhaps without even realizing that they are being so open, make it clear that the United States is in charge, and they all lie down under the United States," Lavrov told Sputnik.
According to the Lavrov, the West understands that "a new multipolar world order is being formed".
Multipolar World – Democratic World
Unlike West hegemony, Sergey Lavrov describes the multipolar world, as a "democratic one", while affirming that it will rely on the principle of sovereign equality of states contained in the UN Charter.

Russia Always Prefers Negotiations to Quarrels
"As [Russian] President [Vladimir Putin] constantly reminds us, we always prefer negotiations to fights and wars," Lavrov said.

"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky himself forbade to conduct negotiations. Secondly, of course, there is no trust in them," Lavrov told Sputnik.
Zelensky's "peace formula" must be put aside and it is necessary to start discussing the foundations of a settlement on which Russia is ready to negotiate, the Russian FM said.
At the same time, he added that Switzerland, which has turned from a neutral country into an "openly hostile" one, is not suitable for negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict.
Lavrov on Iran-Israel Escalation
Russia has conveyed in recent contacts with its Israeli counterparts that Iran does not want further escalation. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with Sputnik.
"There were telephone contacts between the leadership of Russia and Iran, our representatives and Israelis. We have very clearly recorded in these conversations, conveyed to the Israelis that Iran does not want an escalation, " the minister said.
