The US has launched a blistering tirade against India for its energy trade with Russia, calling New Delhi the "Maharaja of tariffs", and "Modi's war in Ukraine."
Volodymyr Zelensky is facing an increasingly severe backlash from Indians on social media after he backed America's punitive tariffs on India, labeling them the "right idea".

"I think the idea to put tariffs on countries who continue to make deals with Russia is a right idea," Zelensky stated In an interview with the American television network ABC

The US imposed 25 percent additional tariffs on India last month for New Delhi's continued crude imports from Moscow. Together with these 25 percent levies, tariffs on India rose to a record 50 percent, the highest in the world, alongside those of Brazil. The US also levied the Latin American country with the same percent of tariffs.

However, his comments drew a sharp response from netizens in India, who highlighted his hypocrisy, urging him to stop accepting defence aid from Europe, as many European countries continue their energy trade with Russia, a fact interestingly underscored by India last month.

"A 3rd rate comedy artist, don't expect more from this stupid," a geopolitical watcher wrote on X.

"You'd think he would move on from the USA after a couple of failed attempts, but no, he's still their puppet. His own NATO friends keep buying from Russia, but somehow India can't," another declared.
