The 44th meeting of the Council of Regional Anti Terrorist Structure (RATS) of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) was held at Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyz Republic on Wednesday.
The top anti-terror body of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has strongly condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, government sources said.
The Council of RATS SCO also endorsed the joint communique adopted at the Tianjin Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS), which had also condemned the Pahalgam attack.
At the Tianjin Summit on 1 September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the role of SCO RATS in the "fight against terrorism". The Indian leader described the Pahalgam attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF)*, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)*, as an "open challenge to every nation, and every individual who believes in humanity".
At the SCO RATS Meeting, Indian delegation chief TV Ravichandran, the country's Deputy National Security Advisor (DyNSA) called on the other SCO members to hold accountable the "sponsors, organisers and financiers of inexcusable Pahalgam terror attack".
During his address, Ravichandran also reiterated India's appeal calling on other nations to "shun double standards and resolve to fight terrorism in all forms and manifestations", which includes cross-border terrorism.
