"We fully welcome the entry of Russian companies into exploration and production at both oil and gas fields," he said, commenting on the possibility of attracting Russian companies to work at the recently discovered large Pazan field in Iran.He also said that Tehran expects to resolve the issue of Russian natural gas supplies soon."We are currently discussing [this issue]. I hope we will reach a result soon. We are currently holding talks," he said when asked whether Tehran and Moscow had reached an agreement on the price of Russian gas to be supplied to Iran.Earlier, Iranian Petroleum Minister Mohsen Paknejad announced that major gas deposits totaling 283 billion cubic meters had been discovered near the Pazan field in Iran's southern Fars province. Paknejad also stressed that the field is unique in that exploration specialists have for the first time encountered a horizontal formation containing at least 200 million barrels of crude oil, although he claims there is potential for discovering even larger volumes.
