Karnataka is already the focal point of avionics in India, with the state-run aerospace giant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) headquartered in its capital, Bengaluru.
In a major boost to the country's aviation and defence sector, India has announced the formation of five new aerospace parks in the southern state of Karnataka.

"Karnataka is stepping forward with a bold vision to build five world-class Aerospace and Defence Parks across the state. This initiative strengthens our leadership in high-tech manufacturing and creates new opportunities for skilled talent. It marks a decisive move toward shaping India's future in aerospace innovation", Karnataka deputy state chief DK Shivakumar said in a post on X on Monday.

He further stated that the five aviation and defence parks will be strategically located in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, Tumakuru, and Chamarajanagar.

India has made a major push to enhance its defence capabilities following Operation Sindoor by setting up newer facilities to manufacture military equipment at home.

For instance, the new BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility has opened in Lucknow in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, supplying its first consignment of the widely acclaimed supersonic missiles to the Indian Armed Forces last month.
