On October 12, cross-border fire caused the frontier to close, leaving dozens of Afghan trucks carrying perishable goods stranded, later followed by a fragile truce.

India to Launch Air Cargo Service to Afghanistan: MEA
17:57 21.11.2025 (Updated: 18:42 21.11.2025) India appears to have been warming to the Taliban government in Afghanistan, particularly in the last couple of months, with multiple top officials from Kabul visiting the South Asian powerhouse recently.
India is set to launch air cargo services to Afghanistan soon, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday.
"I am pleased to announce that the air freight corridor on the Kabul-Delhi sector and Kabul-Amritsar routes have been activated and cargo flights on these sectors will come very soon," Anand Prakash, the Joint Secretary of the Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran (PAI) Division at the ministry, said.
The announcement was made hours after the Taliban's Trade Minister Al-Haj Nooruddin arrived in New Delhi on an official visit, where he held comprehensive talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday.
Growing trade ties between India and Afghanistan are especially important given recent border tensions, as Islamabad has reportedly closed all border crossings with Afghanistan, bringing trade between the two neighbours to a halt.
The two neighbours have been locked in an increasingly bitter dispute since the Taliban came to power in 2021, with Islamabad accusing Afghanistan of harbouring the militants behind cross-border attacks, allegations the Taliban officials deny.
On October 12, cross-border fire caused the frontier to close, leaving dozens of Afghan trucks carrying perishable goods stranded, later followed by a fragile truce.
