India has repeatedly occupied the top spot among the fastest-growing major economies in the world, with the nation witnessing a growth rate of 7.8% in the last quarter.
India has witnessed a steady rise in stature in the global economic landscape and is now global economic agendas, a top government official said on Thursday.
"India's trajectory in global economic governance can be seen as a transition from greater voice to greater shaping of global agendas," Anuradha Thakur, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), said at the SBI Banking & Economics Conclave.
Lauding India's economic growth amid an uncertain geopolitical environment, Thakur emphasised that the focus was on creating
domestic capacity in strategically vulnerable sectors.
"Today as nations navigate uncertainty and confront critical trade-offs, India has emerged as a stable economy that has the ability to withstand external headwinds," she underscored.
Besides, the DEA Secretary stressed that India's next financal leap hinges on its domestic market, particularly on household savings.
"Domestic household savings, for instance, have a considerable scope to be channelled into our financial system," she stated.
