Pakistan has faced several militant attacks in the last 7 to 8 months, including the suicide bombing of a mosque in Peshawar city that killed scores of policemen in February.
The Pakistan military has revealed that one of its army officers and five other security personnel were killed during two separate militant attacks in the Balochistan province on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Army's media wing, troops had launched an operation in the Kech district after receiving input about some militants' presence there.

However, as the soldiers blocked the militants' escape routes, the former began firing on them.

Pakistan Will Not Negotiate With TTP: Foreign Ministry

"As a result of heavy exchange of fire, Major Saqib Hussain and Naik Baqir Ali embraced Shahadat (martyrdom), while another soldier got injured," the ISPR stated.

"The follow-up operation to nab the perpetrators of the attack continues in the area," it added.
Before the Kech attack, two security officers and as many soldiers lost their lives in the Sherani district of Balochistan. The attack occurred on the Dera Ismail Khan Zhob Highway after militants opened fire on security personnel at three checkpoints.
The development was confirmed by Zhob Division Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Umrani, adding that a search operation was underway to nab the culprits.

"The armed attacks were launched simultaneously on three security check posts of police, Levies and Frontier Corps, which are close to each other in Danasar area," Umrani stated following the attacks.

Subsequently, the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)* claimed responsibility for the attacks on the highway.
Since November 2022, the TTP has launched a series of attacks on Pakistani establishments and the country's security personnel after the banned Islamic terrorist organization unilaterally ended its ceasefire with the federal government.
Among the dastardly attacks was the suicide bombing of a Peshawar mosque, located in the city's high-security zone, that left over 100 people dead earlier this year.
Even the police headquarters of Karachi, Pakistan's largest city, came under attack by the TTP fighters in February. Though the attack was repulsed, three security personnel lost their lives in the operation to clear the building.
