Iran Equips Helicopter Fleet With Advanced Weapons for 'Deterrent Power'
In recent years, Iran has made noticeable advancements in equipping its military with state-of-the-art weapons, including 2,000-kilometer-range missiles.
The chief of the Iranian Army's aviation fleet
Brigadier General Yousef Ghorbani on Sunday revealed that
Tehran has successfully fitted its helicopters with an array of weapons despite Western-imposed sanctions
on the Gulf country.
In a statement on state media, Ghorbani said that the choppers of Iran's Army have undergone a massive upgradation program wherein these flying machines have been given a makeover. The latest additions to the helicopters include night-vision capability, precision munition, and a host of other features.
Brigadier Ghorbani added that this gave Tehran a potent "
deterrent power" before underlining that the development has significantly enhanced the "combat readiness" of Iran's Army Ground Force Aviation.
Also, the military officer noted that Iran has already started producing spare parts for its helicopters, making it less dependent on imports in this segment.
With all these upgrades, the commander asserted that the Iranian Army's aviation wing has become West Asia's "most powerful helicopter" fleet.
