India's Punjab state shares more than 500 km of border with Pakistan. The border is being guarded by the Border Security Force (BSF), who shot down at least six Pakistani drones carrying drugs in May.
India’s Border Security Force (BSF) killed a Pakistani intruder along the India-Pakistan border in Tarn Taran district of Punjab on Friday.
According to the BSF, the intruder was trying to illegally sneak into Indian territory near Thehkalan village.
In a statement, the BSF said that some suspicious movements were observed near the security fence on the international border early in the morning.
“Alert BSF troops challenged Pakistani miscreant/intruder but he did not stop and continued moving ahead. Sensing imminent threat and to stop further misadventure, the BSF troops fired at the miscreant in self-defence, killing him on the spot,” the statement further read.
Another intruder was arrested by the Indian Army earlier this week near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The intruder was identified as Abdul Wahid and was reportedly said to be an Afghan national. He was handed over to the local police who questioned him about his motive.
Earlier on July 31, the BSF killed another Pakistani, reportedly foiling an infiltration bid in the Arnia sector in Jammu.

“In the intervening night of July 30 and 31, the vigilant BSF troops observed a suspicious movement across the IB in the Arnia area and an intruder was observed approaching toward the BSF fence,” said a BSF spokesman.
