Expert Predicts Imminent Demise of Netanyahu's Political Career
20:09 31.10.2023 (Updated: 20:39 31.10.2023) Both Israel and the US stated in the immediate aftermath of the 7 October attack by Hamas that they won't negotiate with “terrorists” for the release of over 200 Israeli and foreign hostages.
The political career of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was over the day Hamas successfully executed the 7 October attack, which has left over 1,500 Israelis dead, a Lebanese expert has said.
Laith Marouf, a Beirut-based broadcaster and journalist, has told a radio show, The Critical Hour, that the Israeli society was “cannibalizing itself” even before the hostilities between Hamas and Israel erupted this month.
“There was a whole year of fights on the streets of Israel between various political factions. And they were all almost ready to kill each other,” said Marouf, in a reference to protests and political dissent in Israel due to the Netanyahu-led coalition government’s controversial policies.
Tens of thousands of Israeli protestors hit the streets this year due to Netanyahu’s proposal aimed at curbing the powers of the judiciary.
“Similarly, the hegemony of the United States started to get over starting from 7 October. It's over. The United States is not going to be able to be a global hegemon anymore. No matter what happens tomorrow,” he declared.
'End of Israel Already Determined'
Regardless of how the
ongoing war between Israel and Hamas eventually ends, the end of Israel is inevitable, Marouf said.
“No matter what happens from today, the end of Israel is already determined. Whether it's through a battle that engulfs the whole region, or whether it's the Israelis admitting defeat and changing, they will collapse internally,” Marouf prophesized.
The Lebanese broadcaster credited the brilliance of the plan by the
‘Axis of Resistance’ for the impending end of Israel. The Axis of Resistance is known to be an informal anti-Israel and anti-US alliance led by Iran and comprising Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas among others.
Iran has denied any involvement in the deadly attack carried out by Hamas against Israel on 7 October. US President Joe Biden has refuted speculation about any Iranian involvement in the attack.
“Even if the Israelis accept surrender and they stop this war and acknowledge their defeat. Even if the US acknowledge the defeat and do a full exchange of prisoners between both parties, the next day there will be a civil war inside Israel, if not inside the United States,” Marouf predicted.
The comments come amid revelation that Biden administration was in talks with Hamas through Qatar, as revealed by sources in Doha to Sputnik India.
Biden’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Jake Sullivan told a press briefing in White House on Sunday that Hamas was preventing American citizens from leaving Gaza amid intensified operations by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Sullivan wouldn’t say how the Hamas was keeping the American citizens from crossing over to Egypt through Rafah border, the only transit route open at the movement.
The Biden administrations has seemingly moderated its stance towards Hamas in recent days, with American efforts seem to be focussed on evacuating its citizens, secure the release of hostages under Hamas custody, prevent the conflict from escalating and facilitate humanitarian aid into Gaza amid growing international outrage against Israel.
On 13 October, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had told a joint press conference with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani that there won’t be “business as usual” with Hamas.
Blinken and Al-Thani spoke again on Tuesday, according to the US State Department.
“The Secretary reiterated his thanks to the Qatari government for its work to secure the exit of US citizens and foreign nationals from Gaza, the release of hostages held by Hamas, including two American citizens, and continued efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading,” a US statement said.
