The US has backed Israel since Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7. Washington has also long refused to recognise Palestine as a sovereign state.
The United States needs a constant crisis in the Middle East, so they discredit countries and organizations who call for ending the bloodshed, including the United Nations (UN), Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday.

“They don’t need lasting peace in the Holy Land, they need constant chaos in the Middle East, so they do their best to discredit those countries that insist on an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, <…> and are ready to contribute to resolving the crisis. Even the UN, which clearly expressed position of the world community, is subject to attacks, real persecution, and attempts to discredit it," Putin said at the meeting.

The Russian president added that the US and its satellites are the “main beneficiaries of the global instability,” as they want to use chaos to contain and destabilize their competitors.

“The US as a world superpower — everyone sees this, understands it even from trends in the global economy — is weakening, losing its position. The American world, with one hegemon, is being destroyed, gradually but steadily becoming a thing of the past. But the [United] States do not want to put up with this, but on the contrary, they want to maintain and extend their dominance, their global dictatorship,” Putin said.

The US is not satisfied with Russia’s participation in solving global and regional problems, including in the Middle East, Putin added.

Crisis in Middle East Being Abused to Split, Destabilize Russia: Putin

Putin also said that the current escalation in the Middle East as well as other regional conflicts were being used against Russia in order to destabilize and split the Russian multinational and multireligious society.

"<…> the attempts to use the dramatic situation in the Middle East and other regional conflicts <…> against Russia, to destabilize and split out multinational and multireligious society. As we see, a wide range of means is used for that purpose - perfect provocations and sophisticated technologies of psychological and information aggression", Putin added.

The Russian president also commented at a security consultation on the situation in the Russian republic of Dagestan, where an angry mob tried to storm a plane arriving from Israel on Sunday.

<…> I repeat, those who are behind the conflict in the Middle East as well as other regional crises will use their devastating consequences to incite hatred and push people against each other all over the world. This is the true and selfish goal of such geopolitical puppeteers," Putin explained

The Russian president also said, commenting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, that one should not give in to emotions.

"When you look at bleeding children, at dead children, at suffering women and elderly people, at dying doctors, of course, your hands are balled into fists and tears well up in your eyes. There is no other way to say it. But we must not, we have no right <…> to be driven by emotions," Putin said.

It is necessary to "have a clear understanding of who is really behind the tragedy of the peoples in the Middle East and in other regions of the world, who is orchestrating this deadly chaos and who benefits from it," the president added.
