Relations between Kabul and Islamabad are undergoing a rough phase over the latter's allegations that the former is providing sanctuaries to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP*).
Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir's recent controversial remarks about Afghanistan and its people have triggered outrage in the neighboring country.
"When it comes to the safety and security of every single Pakistani, the whole of Afghanistan can be damned. (We have provided food to Afghanistan for 50 years but) when it comes to our children, we will pursue those who attack them," Pakistan's top general said at a public event earlier this week.
His comments, however, didn't go down well with the politicians in Afghanistan, who slammed him for criticizing Kabul.

Rahmatullah Nabil, who served as the chief of Afghanistan's National Security during the US-backed government in the past noted that Munir's comments were "indicative of Pakistan’s long-term policy towards Afghanistan."

On the other hand, Haneef Atmar, the country's ex-foreign Minister stressed that Munir's statement was "blatantly aimed at inciting anti-Afghan sentiments among the Pakistani people."
