Matheswaran, who is a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer, the successful MIRV test takes India's nuclear deterrence capabilities to the next level. With MIRV, India has got the ability to launch at least 4-5 nuclear warheads through a single missile, thus increasing its capability to attack its enemies manifold.

Modi Reiterates Self-Reliance Focus as Indian PM Witnesses Tri-Service Exercise in Rajasthan
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, India has put a lot of thrust on achieving self-reliance in the defense sector and has made rapid strides in that direction. Once again, he reiterated his government's resolve to make the country the world's preeminent military power.
Indian Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on Tuesday underlined that the idea of a "
Developed India" (Viksit Bharat) was unimaginable without achieving the goal of
Self-Reliant India (Aatmanirbhar Bharat) as he witnessed that tri-services exercise "
Bharat Shakti"
in the desert town of Pokhran, which is located close to the Pakistan border in the South Asian nation's
Rajasthan state.
"We are experiencing the flight of Made in India with arms and ammunition, communication devices, cyber and space. This is indeed Bharat Shakti. Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) for India's defense needs is the guarantee of self-confidence in the armed forces," he added.
Modi's remarks came in the wake of India joining a select group of countries to have the MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle) technology.
On Monday, Modi himself announced that Indian defense scientists, associated with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) developed the MIRV technology, which was successfully tested earlier this week.
According to defense expert
M. Matheswaran, who is a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer, the successful MIRV test takes
India's nuclear deterrence capabilities to the next level.
With MIRV, India has got the ability to launch at least 4-5 nuclear warheads through a single missile, thus increasing its capability to attack its enemies manifold.
