Indian Army Gets More Teeth With Delivery of Indigenous Mine-Protected Vehicles
India is rapidly modernizing its Armed Forces, including the Army, with indigenization becoming the hallmark of its recent changes in the defense sector. Another development in this sector took place recently.
In a major boost to the Indian Army's operational capabilities, the South Asian country's military received the latest batch of Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs) produced by the state-run Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd (AVNL).
"Last batch of current order of MPV for Indian Army was flagged off from AVNL – Jabalpur Unit by 'CGM Vehicle Factory Jabalpur' well within delivery period," AVNL wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
These MPVs would add another layer of security shield to Indian troops in hostile environments, especially for those
who are involved in anti-insurgency operations in
Jammu and Kashmir and the country's Northeastern states like
Manipur.
According to the AVNL, the hull and cabin of these MVPs are built by using the highest grade of steel alloy, which can withstand mine blasts and threats emanating from other forms of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
India's domestically manufactured MPVs have a unique "V" shaped hull that is primarily designed to withstand the energy that is generated after a mine blast, thus helping it save human lives.
AVNL added that the production of these MPVs once again showcases the constant strides that the Indian Defense Forces were taking in the military platforms
manufacturing sector.
