Ravindra thanked the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for holding a frank discussion on the latest round of hostilities in the Middle East and expressed India's serious concern over the deteriorating security situation and significant civilian casualties caused by the ongoing conflict.
Ravindra further highlighted India has supplied 38 tonnes of goods for the Palestinian people, including equipment and medication and encouraged the parties to work towards enabling peace and restarting direct negotiations, including de-escalating the situation and issuing threats of violence.
“We stood in solidarity with Israel at their moment of crisis when they were facing these terror attacks,” said Ravindra.
Ravindra added that Prime Minister Modi had also stated that those responsible for the strike 'must be held accountable', pointing out that civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict are a major and ongoing concern. Civilians, especially women and children, must be protected by all parties.
The Ambassador also reiterated India's support for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, saying that it can result in the creation of a sovereign, independent, and viable State of Palestine that coexists in peace with Israel within recognised borders while also taking into account Israel's legitimate security concerns.
