The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Islamabad will examine any Iranian proposal to be a part of a proposed naval alliance in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) should it arrive.Baloch's reaction came after Iranian Naval Chief Rear Admiral Shahram Irani suggested that Tehran could convince India, Pakistan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain to become members of a maritime coalition alongside Iran.The move is significant given that Iran has amended its relationship with arch-foe Saudi Arabia in a Chinese-brokered peace deal earlier this year and is now looking forward to the normalization of ties with almost all Middle Eastern nations.In this context, Tehran is set to form a new partnership with the Saudis to ensure security in Gulf waters.Iran's efforts to build a new coalition that would ensure maritime security in the Arab seas and in the IOR have gained momentum in recent days, especially after UAE pulled out from the competing American-led Gulf maritime coalition last month.The coalition was formed in 2019 with the aim of containing Iran.But as UAE's ties with Tehran showed an uptick following Iran's resumption of diplomatic relations with the Saudi kingdom, staying in a US-headed alliance became redundant for Abu Dhabi.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Islamabad will examine any Iranian proposal to be a part of a proposed naval alliance in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) should it arrive.
"We have seen that statement and we will examine any proposal when it comes to Pakistan. At this stage, we are not in a position to comment on a statement which has been made," Foreign Office spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a press conference in Islamabad.

"As a result of our ongoing evaluation of effective security cooperation with all partners, two months ago, the UAE withdrew its participation in the Combined Maritime Forces," Abu Dhabi said.
The coalition was formed in 2019 with the aim of containing Iran.
But as UAE's ties with Tehran showed an uptick following Iran's resumption of diplomatic relations with the Saudi kingdom, staying in a US-headed alliance became redundant for Abu Dhabi.
