Indian Defence Secretary Aramane reiterated India's unwavering dedication to preserving peace, stability, and security within the SCO region.
The Defence Ministers of all SCO Member States on Friday signed a protocol embracing the idea of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ resonating with the ancient Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, in a bid to foster unity and harmony, according to the press release by Indian Defence Ministry.
During the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meeting held in Kazakhstan, Indian Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane underscored India's commitment to regional cooperation and shared security concerns.

“During the meeting, a protocol was signed by the Defence Ministers of all SCO Member States. A Joint Communique was issued after the meeting, in which the SCO Defence Ministers agreed, amongst other initiatives, to develop the idea of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’, which is rooted in the ancient Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” as per the press release of Indian Defence Ministry.

He emphasized the imperative of adopting a zero-tolerance stance against terrorism, recognizing it as pivotal for the prosperity and development of SCO member states.
Additionally, Aramane reaffirmed India's longstanding proposal for a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations.

In line with India's broader strategic vision, the Defence Secretary highlighted the concept of 'Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)', originally proposed for the Indo-Pacific region.

This holistic approach aims to promote security and prosperity not only within the SCO framework but, also across the wider geopolitical landscape.

"At the meeting, the Defence Secretary reiterated India's steadfast commitment towards maintaining peace, stability and security in the SCO region. He emphasised the need to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms for prosperity and development of the SCO Member States," the release mentioned.

The Annual Meeting of the Defence Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) took place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from April 25-26.
